Following the establishment of the ARC a comprehensive project plan was developed. The ARC divided the content of the review into two components:

1. The review of the standards and the data requirements of the accreditation program.

2. The review of the accreditation process and the means by which governance and national improvement of the system is achieved.

In so doing, the ARC established two subcommittees of the ARC; the NAS and Data Subcommittee and the Performance Improvement and Governance Subcommittee. These groups have met on several occasions to undertake the review of their allocated content area. Both subcommittees have been established as expert groups, comprised of members with skills and knowledge in a range of clinical professions, screening, accreditation, patient safety and quality, cancer care and corporate and clinical governance.
