In developing the proposed revisions to the system, the work of the ARC and its subcommittees has been informed by:

• The views, appropriate data and relevant information gathered through the consultative workshops, held in November 2011 with BreastScreen Australia Program Managers, accreditation staff and the NQMC;

• Information contained in Screening Monograph No 8/2009 BreastScreen Australia Evaluation Review of the Accreditation System, undertaken as part of the BreastScreen Australia Evaluation, available on the Department's cancer screening website at www.cancerscreening.gov.au;

• Reports developed by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and the Australian National University to respectively compare the BreastScreen Australia NAS against the performance indicators used by the AIHW for national monitoring and standards for population based screening programs internationally; and

• De-identified longitudinal BreastScreen Australia accreditation data from 2007-2011, which have enabled consideration of the targets within the NAS.
